The Challenge

Izze needed to migrate its existing website from WordPress to Shopify Plus and revamp the digital experience to reflect the brand’s vibrant personality. The key challenges included migrating content without losing SEO rankings, redesigning the website for a more engaging and modern look, and ensuring the new platform could handle both B2C and potential D2C operations in the future.

The migration also required optimizing the site for mobile responsiveness, improving page load speed, and maintaining consistent brand messaging throughout the process.

What We Did

Our scope of work for Izze included the following key services:

Website Migration and SEO Preservation

We managed the migration from WordPress to Shopify Plus, including transferring all product listings, content, and site structure while preserving link equity through detailed 301 redirects. Our SEO specialists used tools like Google Webmaster Tools, SEO Powersuite, and Shopify’s Transportr app to ensure a smooth migration that preserved Izze’s existing search engine rankings.

Custom Design and Pre-Design Analysis

We conducted a pre-design analysis that involved user interface and analytics data analysis to identify key areas for conversion rate optimization before development. Using the insights gained, our design team created custom mockups that showcased Izze’s vibrant aesthetic, focusing on maintaining a fun, approachable brand feel. Mobile-specific mockups were also developed to ensure the design translated effectively across devices.

Mobile-First Redesign

Recognizing the importance of mobile traffic for Izze, we emphasized mobile-first design principles. We designed mobile-specific pages, ensuring that the core pages were optimized for responsiveness and offered an enjoyable user experience on mobile devices. The design revisions went through multiple rounds to ensure they matched PepsiCo’s branding and functional requirements.

Interactive Features and Functionality

We introduced interactive features such as a dynamic Instagram feed integration that allows users to shop products directly from their favorite posts. The 'Get Social' page was developed to foster a sense of community by showcasing user-generated content and integrating links to major social channels. We also implemented customizable collections, differentiated product display pages for cans and bottles, and segment-specific content pages to improve user engagement.

Shopify Platform Development and Customizations

We developed the new Shopify Plus store using HTML, CSS, and the Liquid templating language to align with Izze’s unique brand identity. During development, ecommerce functionalities were initially disabled, linking instead to distribution partners like Amazon, Walmart, and Kroger. A geolocation-based system was implemented to ensure that users were directed to appropriate distributors based on their location, enhancing regional relevance.

Backend Integration and Quality Assurance

The Shopify store was integrated with key backend tools for inventory management and shipping integrations with major carriers like UPS, USPS, and FedEx. We also set up a store locator feature linked to PepsiCo’s existing infrastructure, enabling customers to easily find nearby retailers carrying Izze products. Our QA team conducted rigorous testing for cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and checkout functionality, ensuring a seamless launch.

For Izze, our seamless migration to Shopify Plus keeping the brand identity intact was the most rewarding experience. The enhanced user experience resulted in a huge increase in organic traffic and improved customer engagement through interactive features.
